The Farm
Beth and I have been a little slow getting this up, but with the summer coming to a close, we should be able to devote a little attention to the log.
We purchased the "Chapman Farm" in July 06 and have been getting settled in with the move from Dayton. (Along the way we hope to find out what the original family name of the farm was. Chapman was the last family name, however, the farm was Martha Chapman's, who's family owned the farm prior. So we have to do a little digging to find her maiden name.)
Much the work has been to get all of our stuff sorted out and the grass cut. Besides that we have been getting the water in the well cleaned, and water to the bathroom and kitchen. Many of the pipes have burst so we had big leaks in a good many places, but we were able to get it squared away. There is no hot water, but we have flush-able toilets.
We also have been getting the hay field cut so the hay will start to come back over time. We know we will have to fertilize but we have to see next year. Plus we are a couple of years away from getting a tractor and equipment to do it ourselves. Right now a neighbor cuts and bush hogs for us.
