Interviewed for Future Article

We were recently interviewed for an article that will appear in Our Ohio Magazine, which is published by the Ohio Farm Bureau.   This article will feature farmers from across the state like us who are military veterans and whose products carry the Homegrown by Heroes national certification label, a program offered through the Farmer-Veteran Coalition. 

Our interview centered on how we transitioned from military service to farming, specifically the skills gained during our time in the service and how those skills translated to farming, such as working long hours, often under harsh conditions and the ability to problem-solve on the run (think MacGyver).   Additionally, we shared some of the benefits farming can provide a military veteran.  Certainly working outdoors with nature is one of the greatest benefits we see as much as it allows us to decompress from years of conditioning to be ready to react at a moment’s notice for any deployment…anywhere.
